With experiential activities adapted to every age, the LIFE SKILLS educational program helps children, from Kindergarten to Senior High School and IB, develop social and emotional skills to form a complete personality with empathy and the characteristics of a responsible citizen.
The “Life Skills” program that is implemented at all levels of our School, includes targeted actions, adapted to the needs of each age group.
Its goal is to increase children’s awareness in six key issues:
Through specially designed activities, we teach children how to identify their emotions, relate them to the environment in which they interact and manage them, while enhancing their empathy.
We teach them to assume responsibilities, by building their self-image and using special techniques of active listening and conflict resolution.
Free expression of ideas and acceptance of diversity compose their social and emotional empowerment.
Furthermore, our main concern is to strengthen their self-confidence and self-esteem, in order to effectively manage frustration, failure and rejection.
Children actively reinforce their personality with activities on gender relationships, addictions, stressful situations, harassment, bullying, etc.
We teach a new environmental-ecological awareness with ethics and sensitivity, due to the global ecological crisis.
The environmental problems on which we are working with our students include environmental pollution, climate change, the ozone hole, deforestation, desertification, the extinction of biological species, acid rain.
Through experiential activities we promote recycling, composting (having our own composter), waste management, protection of forests and water resources, as well as energy saving.
For example, children are actively involved in cleaning the beach of Schinias, planting trees in Penteli and proposing ecological measures for transportation in cities, in close cooperation with the local authorities and within the frameworks of the European ecological contest Ecomobility.
Our main concern is to help our students develop a culture of safe and creative internet navigation.
Through focused actions at all levels, we train children in the use of the computer, as an educational tool, while at the same time, we preventively inform them on issues of addiction or alienation due to its excessive use and the online games, on the protection of their personal data and on maintaining their privacy.
In addition to the activities we organize, we have held relevant speeches for children, teachers and parents by Mr. Manolis Sfakianakis, Mr. Konstantinos Siomos and other experts.
We organize actions that promote our cultural identity and heritage, in collaboration with cultural institutions.
Every year, we organize events related to theater, cinema, music, visual arts, tributes to prominent intellectuals etc.
Committees of our students participate in international conferences on the negotiation and resolution of current affairs (Model United Nations), in Rhetoric competitions, in exchanges with foreign schools (e.g., Saheti School from South Africa) and in cultural conferences, such as the Mediterranean Student Conference, organized every year with a special cultural theme.
Social contribution, as manifested through volunteerism, is at the heart of our activities.
From an early age, children are introduced to the concept of offering with various opportunities that arise regularly, such as Action Aid and Race for the Cure.
Supporting associations, participating in common activities with children with special needs, visiting places where people with mental disabilities live and move, organizing events on the World Disability Day, offering hospitality and animating athletes of the Special Olympics, are the triggers that we provide to our students in order for them to adopt a volunteering behavior throughout their lives.
Our goal is for our students to develop a flexible and tolerant approach in order to eliminate stereotypes and prejudices as well as to shake off racist views and attitudes from the society of the future.
We pursue for our students to be timely aware and updated on human rights as well as the various violations thereof.
We insist on them acquiring the necessary democratic ethos as well as the mental strength provided by the awareness that individual effort can bring about significant changes.
This way, they will be able to decisively oppose to any form of violation they might encounter in their lives or understand happening to others, setting significant restrictions on the uncontrolled activity and delinquency of individuals and groups.
